National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)

The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a central government initiative in India that provides financial incentives to employers to promote and facilitate apprenticeship training across various industries. Its primary objective is to bridge the skills gap by encouraging on-the-job training.

Who We Are

At Park Skill Development Organization, we partner with NAPS to empower youth through hands-on apprenticeship training, nurturing skills for a brighter future. TPA Park drives skill growth by connecting apprentices with real-world training opportunities.

Key Objectives

  • To develop a skilled workforce for the economy through practical, experiential training.

  • To encourage industries, especially Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), to hire apprentices by providing partial stipend support.

  • To link training with national infrastructure programs and encourage up-skilling opportunities for candidates from existing skill development programs.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Financial Support to Employers: The government shares 25% of the apprentice's prescribed stipend, up to a maximum of ₹1,500 per month, directly to the apprentice's bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

  • Basic Training Cost: NAPS also covers the cost of basic training (up to ₹7,500 for a maximum of 500 hours) for "fresher" apprentices who haven't had formal training before joining the workforce.

  • Mandatory Engagement: Under the Apprentices Act, 1961, establishments with a workforce of 30 or more employees are mandated to engage apprentices, typically within a range of 2.5% to 15% of their total workforce.

  • Certification: Upon successful completion, apprentices receive a government-recognized Certificate of Proficiency, which enhances their employability.

  • Exemptions for Employers: Employers engaging NAPS apprentices are often exempted from contributions to employee-related benefits like EPF and ESI for those apprentices.
